The Skill Builder’s after-school and summer programs help program participants develop and improve five vital skill areas:

    • Socialization
    • Independence
    • Communication
    • Safety
    • Health

This is accomplished through participation in typical after-school and summer programs through the help of small student to teacher ratios facilitated by UCPIE. Progress is made through a structured curriculum of community integration outings, educational activities, arts & crafts, technology, and UCPIE’s Be Fit program. The Be Fit program provides healthy choices instruction, healthy snacks, and 30 minutes of adaptive physical play per program day. The Skill Builder’s Program currently provides care for 66 children with special needs in the Coachella Valley. Programs operate twice a week during after-school hours and summer sessions for children age 7 to 22. For more information contact, Sandra Gramajo, Skill Builder’s Case Manager, at (310) 709-3936.
